Machine Enthusiast meets Mr. Alok Pankaj, Managing Director of Teleios CNC India Pvt Ltd, headquartered in Mumbai, manufacturing CNC wood routers, stone routers, bending engraving machines and SPM machines
Please tell us how you got into the manufacturing business ?
Basically my background is in Computer Numerical Control (CNC) routers. I started working in productivity maintenance using CNC machines. Having good experience in CNC, we shifted to machine quality. My focus is to give our clients best machine performance as well as CNC machines as well.
In this industry exhibition, you seem to be exhibiting other routers, particularly wood routers?
Nowadays, in the infrastructure segment, building construction and hotel industry are very buoyant and coming up with creative new designs. It is a growing industry and, therefore, wood routers, and yes, stone routers too, are in demand.
Okay, when we focus on this industry, what is the special thing, the distinctive element, you provide to your customer?
See, there are many companies that are trading with China, but as we can all see, the machines being manufactured in China are not of good quality, particularly the CNC system and other electronics, there CNC system other electronic part there are not good. And what does every client want? Every client expects that there should be minimum maintenance for the machines they buy. For instance, if a client’s machine has to be stopped for 3 to 4 hours for maintenance. Now China has hardly any technical support and the customer may call customer care through Whatsapp, wechat, and they are not able to start the machine. So our company facilized CNC and provides good control with our Italian imported spindle. So I believe if client receives a quality product, and good maintenance support, they are free from the hassles on the maintenance side and can focus on increasing productivity. If machine quality is good even cycle timing will be less. If CNC such look negatively good the cycle time suppose that in china lead chuck servo motor. Lead chuck servo motor that will giving only 20 to 25,000 rapid. But if u taking other controller or other brand control can be get 35,000 rapid. So that is good cycle time will be reduce & this sector is wood sector you can see there are too much complicated design are their. So cycle time will be not good then that design only more.
And what are the new products you are offering? Is there any innovative offering for your customers?
Yeah..! We are going to introduce plasma cutting technology in the coming months. So apart from wood routers and stone routers we will offer plasma cutting machines also.
How it will different then measuring? What are different?
Yeah..! it is totally different because laser there is CO2 & fibber laser. Fibre laser too much costly starting from 40 lakh to cut MS&SS. In communication less like thus body builder, they will not in fibre laser. They will use Plasma cutting to cut MS & SS plasma cutting machine suitable affective also.
And what developments do you foresee in the industrial sector? What changes are you expecting in your industry in the near future?
Everything is good, we are getting a better price. However, we are not getting support from the government. The government should ban the import of machines from China. And till the time they don’t do so, Indian manufacturers will be unable to prove their ability as a supplier of quality machines.
What was the impact of demonetisation and introduction of GST on the industry? What was your company’s experience?
No adverse impact at all! GST is good; rather real time GST is good for all industries. But demonetisation affected all industries adversely because in every industry there is cash in hand always.
How did GST benefit your industry?
See, my office is in Noida. suppose that I am seeling to delhi that time different taxes welfare & VAT that was only 14% if I don’t have excise uttar Pradesh to uttar Pradesh. 14% if I don’t have excise that will not be input. But now a day each & particular item I am taking input each and every. Even if excise duty 540 include taxes I am taking approximate 37 Rs. Paid in my A/C. so after GST each & every taxes I will paid that will more benefit.
Apart from this, do you have any specific expectation from our policy makers? You said imports from China have to be banned? Do you have any other suggestions for our policy makers?
You mean two things, government support in general to the industry and financial support. The Modi government announced it was going to support the already established start-up industry. But I don’t see any concrete support coming to us. In case I need financial support and I approach a bank I am asked to provide extensive documentation and collateral. Then what is the meaning of a start-up? How am I supposed to obtain sufficient loan with low collateral to offer.
You mean.! To say about govt. Govt support to us as well as economical. Suppose that start up Modi govt told that we are going to established starup industry. But I thought still new interfere are not getting support to comes govt. suppose that I explain my company I need some amount? If I contact to SBI & other banks they told I need so much document I need bondage. So what is meaning of startup if I have less boundage want to taking loan from that.
Don’t you think you can benefit from the Mudra Yojana announced by the government?
No, I don’t think we can derive much benefit from the Mudra Yojana. The government may have directed the banks to offer schemes to the industry but banks are not very supportive. So I am not very hopeful.
